The Change from Conference to Fellowship

iTuesday, Apr 22nd, 2014 comments by Tayana

Since we were founded in 2006, our flagship university program has been the SAWomEng Conference: bringing together the top female engineering students from around South Africa to solve humanity’s greatest challenges.

We were understating ourselves, as the “conference” is more than a talk-shop, where students sat and listened to lecture after lecture. It is a high impact week of learning, up-skilling the next generation of engineers to prepare them for the real word, and tackling the technical challenge – solving our greatest challenges using their engineering skills.

As such, we have rebranded this week, as “Fellowship”; a weeklong intensive learning opportunity to create socially conscious engineers, thinkers, dreamers and tomorrow’s engineering leaders. It represent an age of continuous learning and a realisation that engineering degrees need something extra to create phenomenal engineers.

Fellowship represents the potential of our delegates to go out and change the world!
